Safety

Geofence for PWC Seadoos, what is it? Where is it?
We have implemented a new technology as of 2021 to limit the play area of our PWC’s within a 3km by 2km radius just out side of our marina to keep all of our riders safe in addition to our safety patrols out there looking after you. The Geofence will ensure you do not crash into shore, rocks, or hurt yourself in shadow areas, or get lost in cooks bay. The geofence will reduce and limit your speed to 10km/hr or less once you are out of the zone, a light on the indicator will let you know that you are out of the zone.

Keep apart for PWC Seadoos, what is it?
The keep apart function is a new technology we have implemented as of 2021. This reduces the risk of crashing into each other, however it does NOT prevent it 100%. We stress the importance of keeping apart for everyone’s safety, this tool will assist us in doing so by reducing your speed when you approach another rider. A indicator will light up showing keep apart. It will ensure your safety as well as the other riders. Please always keep apart while riding so no one gets hurt!

Do I need my boat license to rent a boat?
No. While we highly recommend attaining your boating license before your adventure, we do provide temporary boating licenses for those without. To obtain a temporary license, we require a valid driver’s license and the passing of our safety training. The first 30 min of your reservation are reserved for safety and operations training (this can be avoided if you arrive 30 mins to an hour prior to your launch time). We retain the right to withhold a temporary license for those who are unable to pass our safety training.

Do I still need safety training if I hold a boating license?
Holding a boating license does not exempt you from safety training. In fact, from our experience, customers who claim they have prior boating experience often cause us the most problems off and on the water. No boat or body of water are the same and we require you to pay attention to our operation and safety training.

Do I need a lifejacket?
All passengers are required to wear a life jacket/PFD at all times. CW is not responsible for providing life-jackets for children under the age of 4.
In response to COVID, we ensure we do not use the same life jackets previous renters have used without a complete wipe down, and a 1 hour dry period.

Can I bring my child/infant on the boat with me?
Children are able to board all pontoons, fishing boats, and jet skis with adult supervision. Infants are able to board pontoons – at the discretion and supervision of the guardian. For their safety, we recommend outfitting children with their own personal life jacket – to ensure correct fit and wear of the floatation device.

What safety protocols are in place due to COVID?
We encourage the practice of social distancing while at the marina. We wipe down our payment machines and boats after every use and follow strict government rules/updates during these difficult times. We thank you in advanced for your support and cooperation in keeping everyone safe and healthy – and thank you for supporting our local business.
If you are feeling sick, ill or show any flu symptoms, please cancel your reservation and avoid contact with other people.

What safety protocols are in place on the waters?
• Safety gear and equipment must be present and accessible on the vessel at all times.
• Renters must adhere to water regulations and speed limits.
• Renters must know what to do in the event of an emergency, as outlined in pre-launch, and call 911 if necessary.
• Fines or infractions charged to the renters are the responsibility of the renter.
• It is illegal to have drugs or alcohol on vessels.
• It is the renter’s responsibility to report any damages to ensure the safety of the next renter.

Can I bring marijuana or alcohol on board?
No, in no circumstances are any drugs or alcohol permitted on any of our vessels. Boating or swimming in open waters while under the influence is extremely dangerous and can result in death by drowning. No life-jacket can prevent the loss of life caused by intoxication. There are many more ways to have fun without the use of harmful substances!
